Who we are
Hillmann Excavating is a family-owned land clearing and excavation company based in Dallas. We work residential lots, ranch acreage, custom-home pad sites, and small commercial builds across the North DFW metroplex. Most of what we do is clearing cedar and mesquite, grading pads for builders, digging ponds and foundations, and putting utilities in the ground.
Why family-owned matters
Big outfits subcontract out to whoever bid lowest that week. Owner-operators know the job because they're on it. When you email us, you reach the people who will actually be running the machines, not a sales team handing the work off to someone you never meet. It makes the whole job cleaner: fewer surprises, faster answers, and nobody pointing at somebody else when something needs sorting.
We know North Texas ground
Blackland prairie clay shrinks in drought and swells in rain. That's why slabs crack in DFW. Ashe juniper drinks thirty gallons of groundwater a day per mature tree. Mesquite grows back from a buried bud ring if you don't grind under it. Knowing that stuff isn't a pitch line; it's the difference between a job that holds up in year five and one that doesn't. We learned it the way everybody out here does, by working it.
